“Halcyon, in Montclair, is just a two-minute drive from our offices in West Orange, and it’s one of our favorite local places to take clients or meet friends for drinks before dinner. The seafood is always good here, but I come for the whole feeling of the place—the clean, coolness of the white marble and the warmth of the pumpkin color on the walls. The building used to be a meat market, and the restaurant’s owners transformed it with a lot of beautifully textured design details—like the work station’s ribbed-glass partition, which they salvaged from an old Dublin bank. A lot of what keeps you coming back to a restaurant is in the atmosphere. At Halcyon, they get the mood and the food right. "
